Printing system help

Q.     I clicked print, a dialog box came up and asked me for my name.  I typed it in and never recieved my print job.

A.     The print job went to the laser printer.  You can choose to pay for it or resubmit the job to the dot matrix printer for free.

Q.     How do I choose between Laser or Dot Matrix printing?

A.     Follow the steps below to select the type of printer you want to print to:

We will be using Micrsoft Word 2000 as an example, but all applications should behave in a similar manner.

First, click on the file menu as shown in the example above.

Next, move your mouse down the menu until you highlight the print command.

Click Print.

Clicking print brings up the print dialog box.  Use the drop down box to select the name of the printer you would like to print to.  The laser printer is identified by name in the drop down box pictured below.  The dot matrix printer name will show the network name of the print queue it is associated with.

If you would like to edit the properties of your print job before submitting it, you can choose the Properties button and choose double sided printing and other options.

Otherwise, click OK and print your document.  If you are printing to the laser printer and need help with the pay for print system, see UCL Laser Printing.
